EMSUA Email - Mail Setup


The following steps apply to Mail, an email client that comes with Mac OS X. In this case, we will be setting up email for a person named John Doe.

1) Open Mail by double-clicking its icon in Finder, or by clicking on its icon in the Dock.



2) Open Mail's preferences by clicking on the Mail menu, and selecting "Preferences… ."



3) Click "Add Account."



4) Fill out the required information. Replace John Doe's information with your own. Both "Desciption" and "Full Name" may be different, but the other information must follow this example. The "Outgoing Mail Server" selected should be your ISP's outgoing mail server (SMTP server). In this case, John Doe's ISP is Shaw, so he sets his account to use Shaw's SMTP server named "shawmail".



5) Select your account in Mail's Drawer.



You can now use your account in Mail
