EMSUA Email - Webmail Setup


The following steps apply to the Webmail service provided for EMSUA members to check their email through a web browser. Follow the steps below to login, check your email, manage your folders, write an email and change your password. In this case, we will be accessing webmail for a member named John Doe.

1) Access the webmail page by clicking on the "WEBMAIL" button to the left. After reading the message found there, proceed to the Webmail login page.



2) Enter your username and password. Your username is in the form "firstname.lastname" and your password was provided to you at the clinic.



3) After you login, take note of the four tabs at the top of the screen. "Inbox" brings you to your inbox where you can read your emails. "Compose" allows you to write new emails. You can enter names and email address in an online address book after clicking on the "Address Book" tab. "Options" lets you change settings such as your name, your password and the number of messages displayed per page.



4) Click on the "Options" tab to change your password. Because a generic password was issued to each member, it is important that you change your password as soon as you can. Enter a password that won't be easily guessed, but will be easy for you to remember. If you forget this password, you will need to contact the Webmaster or your Zone UIC to request a new password. In this case, John Doe has chosen "johnny4umpire" as his new password. Once you've chosen and then entered your new password twice, click on the "Change" button.



5) Finish setting up your account. Once the page reloads, finish changing your settings. Change the "Name" setting to match your name. Change the time zone to "GMT -7" (this is Mountain Time). Other options you may be interested in changing are the "Number of messages per page" setting which controls how many emails are listed on each page (inbox and folders), the "Time to refresh" setting which can reload your inbox page every 1, 5, 10 or 15 minutes, and the "US date format" which displays dates in the form "Month, Day, Year" as opposed to the default "Day, Month, Year." Press the "Update" button when you are done.



You can now use your account via webmail. Click on the "Compose" tab to write an email. When you are done, logout by clicking the "Log Out" button found at the bottom of the folder list on the left side of the screen, and close the browser window.
